MAS Cabinet

Based fundamentally on the principles of multimodal design, in which “information (is) presented in multiple modes such as visual and auditory” (Chen and Fu, 2003, p.350), as well as written modes, virtual museums fit naturally in the MAS Framework as they offer a concrete instantiation of New Literacies, allowing instructional elements to be presented in more than one sensory mode (visual, aural, written).

In this sense, the MAS Cabinet was created as a desktop application for use in line with the Pedagogical Learning Scenarios and principles of MAS approach. The virtual learning environment offers multimodal interactive experience for the user, and can be accessed remotely from their own computer.

Steps to use the Virtual Museum (MAS Cabinet) app:

  • 1. Create a profile/login
  • 2. Download the files and open MAS Cabinet.exe.
  • 3. Begin work with your students. You can add images in the allocated spaces, which are stored and can be retrieved at any time.

These pages unfold in the context of a funded investigation awarded by the the Cyprus Research & Innovation Foundation Programmes “RESTART 2016 – 2020” and in particular DIDAKTOR programme. The project (POST-DOC/0916/0248) is entitled “Museum Affinity Spaces (MAS): Re-imagining Museum-School Partnerships for the 21st century through a Multiliteracies Lens” will run from November 2018 until October 2020.
