Based fundamentally on the principles of multimodal design, in which “information (is) presented in multiple modes such as visual and auditory” (Chen and Fu, 2003, p.350), as well as written modes, virtual museums fit naturally in the MAS Framework as they offer a concrete instantiation of New Literacies, allowing instructional elements to be presented in more than one sensory mode (visual, aural, written).
In this sense, the MAS Cabinet was created as a desktop application for use in line with the Pedagogical Learning Scenarios and principles of MAS approach. The virtual learning environment offers multimodal interactive experience for the user, and can be accessed remotely from their own computer.
Steps to use the Virtual Museum (MAS Cabinet) app:
- 1. Create a profile/login.
- 2. Download the user manual found in this page and read through it.
- 3. Download the files, export them in your desktop and run MAS Cabinet.exe.
- 4. Begin work with your students. You can add images in the allocated spaces, which are stored and can be retrieved at any time.
